David acquired 4 cases of pears a few days ago. So, we decided to try our hand at canning. I had canned homemade salsa earlier this summer under the direction of my friend, but I have never done any other canning. The whole process was like the blind leading the blind, but with the help of our trusty Betty Crocker cookbook, the internet and tips and tricks from our friends we made it through our first canning experience. And let me tell you, if there is one way to break in your beautiful, new kitchen, it is to can in it!!! What a mess! I'm sure when we crack the seal on a bottle of those pears it will all be worth it though. We ended up with 51 beautiful quarts of pears!
